How the softener works: 

Hard water (containing large amounts of calcium and magnesium salts) flows through the ion exchange bed in the device. As a result, Ca2+ Mg2+ ions are exchanged for sodium ions from the deposit and the water is softened. Thanks to this, the problem of scale and troublesome stains on the fittings is eliminated.
