HOW TO PROTECT THE INSTALLATION AGAINST COOLING DOWN WITH AN ATV VALVE?

When installing a temperature valve, e.g. ATV, vice versa - according to the attached scheme, the valve will act as protection of the power supply system against cooling. When the water temperature from the boiler is lower than the rated temperature of the valve, then the entire stream is directed back to the boiler. Only at a temperature equal to the rated temperature of the valve, the flow slowly opens to the system until the water temperature from the boiler exceeds the rated temperature of the valve by 10ºC. Then the entire stream of water from the boiler is directed to the installation.

Temperature valve ATV 336

The ATV temperature valve mounted on the return to the boiler protects the solid fuel boiler against corrosion caused by too low temperature of the water returning to the heat source. Maintaining the return temperature at a constant level specified by the boiler manufacturer allows to protect it against moisture condensation on the water jacket and negative processes of contamination of the furnace by tar and soot. A sufficiently high return temperature extends the life of the boiler and increases its efficiency. ATV temperature valves can also be used as distributor valves.

ATV temperature valves should be installed in every installation with a heat buffer (accumulation tank) and are recommended for each solid fuel boiler.

ATV temperature valves are made of brass and have internal threads. A thermostatic element is placed in the valve, which regulates the temperature of the water returning to the boiler and keeps it at a constant minimum level. The rated temperature of the valve determines the opening temperature at which the opening of connection A by the thermostatic element begins. The mounting position of ATV valves is arbitrary. The use of ATV valves does not require the use of additional control valves at the connections.

The design of the ATV temperature valves allows the replacement of the thermostatic element without having to disassemble the valve from the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What are temperature valves used for?

  • Temperature valves are designed to protect the boiler against too low temperature of water returning to  the boiler. By maintaining a high temperature of the water returning to the boiler, we increase the efficiency of the boiler, reduce the deposition of tar and avoid the effect of water condensation in the boiler, thanks to which we extend the life of the boiler.

At what temperature does the flow in the temperature valves completely open?

  • In temperature valves offered by  AFRISO, the valve is fully opened at a temperature 10 ° higher than the specified rated temperature.

Is it possible to replace the thermostat in the temperature valves?

  • YES, the internal thermostatic element can be replaced to get a temperature valve with other parameters. The thermostatic elements are the same size, regardless of the size of the valve. They differ only in rated temperatures.
