IBO Antifreeze Valve 1 1/4" DN32 for Heat Pumps

IW series anti-freeze valves are designed for installation in installations where monobloc heat pumps are used, in order to protect them against thickening of the medium and its freezing. The three-part design simplifies servicing – a foot valve is mounted between the valve body and the cartridge.

Features:

 Brass body and thermal element

Operating in a narrow temperature range

Foot valve provides reliable, leak-proof shut-off

Only works under the influence of temperature change

 Not affected by pressure changes

Easy installation with a pipe wrench

Removes the minimum amount of water required to prevent freeze damage

ASSEMBLY

Antifreeze valves are always installed in pairs: one on the supply pipe and one on the return pipe on the external section of the system, passing so that condensation from the valve mounted on the top pipe does not flow to the valve mounted below. Installation is done in a vertical position, with the trigger pointing downwards. The valve mounted on the downpipe should not and must not come into contact with the ground or the foundation of the heat pump, the drain should be at least one valve length away (min. 15 cm). The valve should be mounted away from any additional element of the heat source so as not to interfere with the proper operation of the valve. For proper operation of the valve, it is not recommended to insulate it.

PRINCIPLE

⏩ We use valves as antifreeze protection for heating devices – monobloc heat pumps, where the heating medium in the system is water. These valves serve as additional protection in the event of a power outage. In the event of a power outage in autumn, winter and early spring, the external elements of an installation based on a monobloc heat pump are exposed to cooling of the internal medium. In the case of water, the freezing point is 0ºC, and the water changes its physical state by increasing its volume by about 20%, which can cause damage to the external part of the installation.

⏩ When the temperature of the medium drops to 3ºC – the valves will open causing the refrigerant to condense, the upper valve will start to suck in air (to equalize the vacuum), the lower valve will continue to cause condensation of liquid. The drop in temperature of the medium is directly related to the opening of the condensing valve. The lower the temperature, the greater its opening.
